Hi all, i am in the midst of restoring an a reg hi cap pick up defender, i have stripped engine and found a crack in the head, it is a 2.25 diesel. My question is, should i try and find a head for it or go for a tdi engine, in this case which one, 2 or 300 tdi?????? cheers. ps: my black and gold chassis looks great

It dunt just stop at the head though does it, wot are the valve stems an seating bits like an the stem seals an all the stuff to do with the push rods an stuff, It's pointless bolting a new head onto a pile of ****e. MHM was saying that a replacement 200TDi was cheaper than doing his injun up, but I spose it all depends on wot state the new injun is in.

nashby, in here everyone knows what they talking about, but thats about where it ends...no one else knows what the fook they talking about

so then can anyone tell me which engine is better to install, 2 or 300 tdi, will my gearbox, ratio's be ok etc?

oh my god, right. 200 tdi or 300tdi? which is easier to fit or better?

200tdi is easier to fit because it drops straight in. You av to weld a new engine mount to the chassis if you want to fit a 300tdi. I'd get a discovery engine as their going for less than £400 now whereas a defender engine will cost you in the region of £1k. You will need all the ancillaries, alternator, PAS, radiator, intercooler etc. and you need to buy a modified exhaust from steve parker (£150approx)

If your's is an H reg then it should have a 2.5 engine not a 2.25

makes sense wot red sed tho. 200 the easiest route. me, im a TD5 guy...everyone ses they give crap but i got 310,000km an mine an would not change it fer anything.
