Engine change/insurance

Ive recently got a 90 (g reg) and at first i believed it to have the standard turbo diesel engine. However on taking if for a service i have now been tolt it has a 200tdi.

Will the insurance company be aware of this via the v5 details/dvla, or do i need to contact them telling them that the engine has been changed??

First of all i'd make sure it IS a 200tdi...a quick photo on here will confirm...check the v5 and see if the engine number is on that and if it is the same as on the engine itself too.

Tell em it's just been changed, depending on who ya insured wi it might cost ya more.
Also probably worth checking the engine number on ya V5 matches that on ya engine incase the person who changed it didn't. If not there's a form as part of the V5 to send to DVLA to notify them of the change.

Righto, so if the engine number is on the v5 then i take it the insurance company will know what engine is in it?

Prob worth doing as storm99 says first and sticking a pic up to make sure it is a 200 first. As for engine number i aint a clue, never checked mine

Your engine number is stamped on the drivers side of the cylider block near to the timing belt casing. If you look at your injection pump and then move to the right and up a little, you'll see it on a flat surface facing the sky. You might need to sand or clean the area first so that it's visible. Pit a picture of the engine up so that we can tell you what it is!

Thanks for the help guys, my cameras broken but my engine looks exactly the same as this, so looks like a defender 200tdi to me just gotta ring the insurance company and sort my policy out
