what for? what range rover! im guessing the L322 as the P38 dont have electrochromatic door mirrors, well mine dont!

Hi, most defininetley a P38, it has the interior auto mirror and also outside ones as well !!.There is an extra plastic connector behind the glass which has the 2 wires that run to the top and bottom of the glass.
Dont see as i really need them as the windows are tinted ( legally ) as well. Cheers

the door mirrors are heated not self dimming, they come on with the heated rear screen,(i think) and there defo not £100+!!
you prob find them on ebay for a tenner each i bet!

Do the HSE/DHSE not have self dipping mirrors for reversing, they are set with the electric seat memory and dip according to which key is used
yes, the mirrors point down when reverse selected, and they react to key 1 or 2, they dont dim though, there just plain old heated door mirrors the mirror motors obviously does the dipping!
personaly i dont like the reverse dip funtion so i have turned mine off.

Aha ! Just Found The Original Options Sheet From When The Car Was Purchased In 2000 And Clearly States Electrochromatic Wing Mirrors !!.rimmer Bros. List Them For The P38 At £130 + Vat And Main Dealer Wants £180.obviously If You Hav'nt Had Them On Yours Then You Will Have To Look On The ' Bright ' Side Of Life.

No, not quite. I ran a thread on this a while back as my mirrors would not clear on an icy morning. Having finally made some sense of the wiring diagram, the heating elements are ON all the time the ignition is on, not just with the heated rear screen. i think this is why they burn out so often.

Some models were also fitted with the dimming door mirrors, which are connected back to the auto interior mirror. Whilst a nice idea, if they fail, they do cost an absolute fortune to replace.

would this be from 99 on? would seem logical as a few changes where made then, mine is a 96 so thats all i have to go on.............

Yes,

had a look on the RAVE cd and the electo chromatic door mirror wiring is MY99 onwards. It would seem the wiring harness and output from the interior mirror is not present on earlier cars, and these can't therfore be upgraded.

At least your mirror glass is a lot cheaper if it gets broken  ;)

I believe the auto dimming mirrors were only fitted to P38 4.6 Vogue models other models dont have the two extra power wires in the wiring loom to accomodate this function. These were also colour co-ordinated the same colour as the rest of the car.
