So i got issues with my headlight and cant trace the problem.

What i want to know is,... Will there be a problem going through the MOT if i rewire the headlights and sidelights to 3 switches (dipped, main beam and side lights)

Im thinking there might be a issue having the main beam switch away from the steering column?

*************

If i pass all the above and the MOT will be ok, what stuff will i need to get apart from the wire and switches?

I dont have a manual btw

Shouldn't see why it would be a problem, corsas have their headlight switch mounted on the dashboard, down and to the right of the steering wheel. Stupid place to put it in my opinion but that's nowhere near the steering column

What i mean is to go from main beam to dip it will be a switch on the dash and not the light stalk on the column.

This is where the mot problem might be as its not right there at your finger tips?

Aye that's what I was getting it, its not at your fingertips on a corsa either and there seems to be no probs with that. Plus if its only temporary it'll be fine

Obviously the switch would have to be secure etc, if its the switch thats dodgy, why not order a new one? It's a common fault for the contacts to go - the plastic melts and gets too far from the contacts on other side

The headlight switch might be, but the full/dip switch is still on the column, older Astras were the same (and Novas IIRC)
older cars had a foot operated dip switch, and wasnt full beam on a dash switch on series landys anyway??

Thats ok wolf lol

My problem is one of the side lights has stopped working (no idea why and cant find the problem)... And my main beam and dip are all messed up.
When dipped, one is on main then when on main they look almost the same but its as if they alternate like the police cars.

Ive messed with it a few times trying to trace the problems, tried swapping the wires over that go to the lights. Its really frying my brain lol

I did this by accident when I was wiring in spots. If I connected them both to both connectors on the relay then one would be on with the dipped then when I flashed that would go off and the other would come on, like a police car lol. Does yours have a flasher relay? I'm not sure how its wired up but it might not hurt to see if the relays stuck and needing replaced

Where can i find this relay you speak of as i am useless with tracing electrics lol

Ok cheers, ill get back to ya soon as i find some time and have a look. Would be nice if thats the problem :)
