Hi all,

I am new here. When I get home I'll put an introduction up,but in the mean time I need some advice. I have 3 apparant electrical problems with my 97 300tdi.

First one is an irratic rev counter - don't have a clue where to start with this one.

Second one is the rear windows sometimes stop working. Wired thing is if I open and close the bonnet they start working again.

Last one is a brake light doesn't work. Checked the buld, holder and fuse. Is there a common place for the wires to fail?

Thanks for any help

First one is an irratic rev counter - don't have a clue where to start with this one. Not sure

Second one is the rear windows sometimes stop working. Wired thing is if I open and close the bonnet they start working again. I think the bonnet is a red herring the slam is producing a vibration reconnecting a bad connection

Last one is a brake light doesn't work. Checked the buld, holder and fuse. Is there a common place for the wires to fail? Have ya checked the switch at the pedal

Thanks for any help

;)

:welcome2:

rev counter works off back of alternator probably loose connection rear windows can be switches which can be swapped around to check or often ecu top of passenger footwell, brake lights need to check if power to connector to lamp cluster but often poor contact in lamp it easier if you remove 2x wing nut to remove whole of lamp

Thanks chaps - all sorted now

Getting the cluster out was a bit of a challenge though!!!
