Aha, so we're zeroing in on the wiper control unit as the guilty party, making an electromagnetic signal that interferes with the radio. It may not need a whole faraday cage. A bit of metal (earthed) between the wiper control unit and the radio might be a start. So that the radio is in the 'shadow' as it were.

I have not had the time to do anything with it today but what I was going to try was simply rapping the wiper control unit in aluminium foil.

Also try an anti-static bag from a computer component or even both the foil and bag what do you think?

i was thinking metal wire strainer cut and placed over the wiper bit.. the next owner will be all WTF

Good idea what would I label it up as so a new owner would not have a WTF moment:-The rainer strainer radio fixer

As you seem to be honing in on the wiper motor, could you wire the radio up temp with longer leads say in the back away from the motor to see if the prob stops. If it does, then you can be certain of the problem:confused:

I have tried this and simply placing the radio on to the cubby box it works when the wipers are on intermittent, so with such a little extra distance from the wiper control unit makes all the diffrence.

Sorry, should have carried on reading page 2 doh!

You could also add an earth strap directly to the radio body which may alter the way that the unit is getting this signal.

Might also be worth trying a new delay unit in case the contacts are getting 'spiky'.

Either way, you'd better tell us what model it is, because its obviously going to receive every channel on the planet.

It is now fixed a new control unit @ £54.67 inc VAT fixed it.

I bit the bullet and purchased a new LR original from a main stealer and it fixed the problem.

Thank you to all who contributed.
