Evening all, just a tail of a window fail that might save you time. Dicovery2 TD5, all running fine but then the driver's window stopped working. Lucky it was up, but it made me look like a twonk going through toll booths. So I tested to see if power was ok to the motor, there was so the motor came out and a test showed it was not working. eBay, and I had a new one. Put it in and.... Nothing working.
More opening the door to get into the works car park.
Tested the supply again, no power?? Went to the ecu and checked the output, all fine. I ran a line from the ecu to the motor, it worked. So a broken wire perhaps.
After a day of messing around, I traced the problem to the flexing bundle as it goes to the door. Key thing to remember, broken wire someone's work if they touch as you test them.
If you read this and call me a Pratt because it is so clear what was wrong, no worries - but if you save yourself some time that I wasted, good. They say a smart man learns from his mistakes, and a wise man learns from other's mistakes.:confused
