electric drop out ?

hi all
recently fitted new speakers and stereo to my disco 1 and have noticed when driving with lights on whilst braking or flashing high beam my radio cuts out and then restarts itself. Checked alternator and it seems to be working correctly charging at right voltage whilst under load.

Also recently bought new battery so I know its not that, that's at fault

Crystal ball time, check and test what u have done at the head unit again.

I believe on a 300Tdi there is a "light" feed that tells the radio when the lights are on to provide additional illumination.

What did you do in order to fit the radio?

With tons of cheap connectors available from the parts store I hope you didn't do the cutting and taping of wires? My last 300 series V8 had a Sony head unit, and was fitted using the correct connectors, it worked just like it should, if you did the same so should yours.

just fitted as normal no wire chopping, the head unit came with an adaptor so followed the instructions and its worked fine until I drove it at night then with the lights on etc it cuts out also found today if the volume is a little higher it cuts it out
The previous owner didn't have a standard head unit so could possible be some damaged wires somewhere ? ill have a proper look tomorrow after work
