Hey there everyone, my old Discovery (R reg) kept having issues with the alarm going off when the door was supposedly open. At length, the ignition has packed up, won't turn over and I think the problems are related to the immobiliser.
So, I've got an EKA code, from a dealership, but it's got a zero for the second digit. How am I supposed to input zero? Second problem, there's seemingly two different methods online for using the EKA code. The first method doesn't mention the use of beeps to indicate the process has begun, failed or succeeded. This same method advises a 5 minute wait time upon entering the code.
The second method, requires you to start the process by holding in the unlock position until you hear a beep, going through the EKA then holding unlock again at the end, until you hear 1 beep (failed attempt), 2 beep (success).
As far as I can tell this second method, with the beeps, is what starts the process off because if I merely turn the key quickly to unlock then back to centre to input the first digit using the first method, the immobiliser is still making little beeps and noises every time I switch from locked to unlock etc.
So, using the second method, I've used the number 10 instead of 1, as advised by a mechanic I know. Unfortunately, I'm only getting one beep at the end of the sequence and when I go to turn over, either the alarm goes off, or it's just dead as per the norm presently.
Can anyone provide some assistance?
I was given two codes by the dealer, the one with the zero in was for the immobiliser. Then there was a radio code with another 4 digits, none of which were zero. I've a feeling I've tried this other code, without success too.
Many many thanks in advance if you can get the old girl started or suggest options if the EKA code route is a non-starter.
