Pointless why spend £40 or £50 when a penny does same job. Providing EGR valve is internally clean you will gain diddly squat by removing it. All this airflow restriction bull****, is just that bull****. Plus leaving it in place it will pass the MOT next year if they bring in the EGR check which is due. Were as the bypass may not.

you do gain from it! smoother running at idle plus better engine life from no sooty exhaust gasses entering the oil!
plus have you seen the intake manifold on most egr equipped diesels caked up inside with thick deposits?
if we all cant agree on performance gain can we agree its a good idea in general!

Most if not all EGR blanking/removal improvements are in the mind of the user. There was no measurable difference in performance, idling or fuel economy with mine blanked.

Carbon deposits get into the oil on any diesel regardless of whether an EGR is fitted or not. All diesels is a notoriously dirty engines. Yes a good idea not to have an EGR which adds to the problem. So blank it if you must, but the £50.00 bypass will gain you nothing, any airflow restriction imposed by the presence of the EGR valve is not worthy of consideration on the P38.

£50.00 instead of a penny, to get exactly the same result, makes a lot of sense.
