EGR pipe is a goner

Then it needs to be held open by Suction held open and vacume pipe blocked if Diaphragm has no leaks it should hold or make a holding tool
What are you on about? The EGR valve is normally closed which is the same as blocking the pipe. The only suction is provided by vacuum controlled by the modulator valve which in turn is controlled by the EDC to open the valve when the conditions are right.

Yes if you were to block its movement as it slides on a pole you could lock it open that's what I was trying to say it comes on at high. Temperatures to allow the flow of the gasses

Basically my view is you should block it as the manifold end and when the temputre rise because you have blocked the egr end there is nowhere for the hot gas to go .

Can you not read? The valve is closed most of the time which is the same as blocking the manifold end of the fecking pipe, doesn't seem to cause any problems with heat as no gas travels up the pipe with the valve closed, get's fecking hot when the valve is open allowing gas up the pipe though:rolleyes:

And that is my point you block it at the egr end yes it blocked but when it gets hot the gasses are allowed to expell Whereas you blocking it that end caused a perment dead end if you block it at the Exhaust manifold end the entry to what feeds the pipe it hast to go Through the turbo like not haveing an egr set up that's my view end of you block your end I will block mine :)
 
One more thing why do All egr kits on the market remove the manifold to egr feed pipe supply a blanking kit for the Exhaust manifold and a new inlet section with the side exit removed from where the Recirculation pipe was attached , apart from Ali
Sports poor Atempt to remove the system on the p38 !!!
 
My mission today-should i accept it- is to remove the fecked pipe and blank both ends off and leave the EGR valve and vacuum pipe as it is.
MOT is months away, so plenty time to get a replacement.

One more thing why do All egr kits on the market remove the manifold to egr feed pipe supply a blanking kit for the Exhaust manifold and a new inlet section with the side exit removed from where the Recirculation pipe was attached , apart from Ali

Possibly and i am just guessing here. So the exhaust gas as it's not being diverted into the EGR and wasted, gives more pressure to drive the turbo giving an extra 15 BHP and an extra 10 MPG. Or something along those lines. Actual gain from fitting EGR bypass over just blocking gas feed pipe. Zilch.:):)

Ok guys it's all went a bit pete tong.
The feckin' exhaust manifold end of the EGR pipe does not want to come off.
I have destroyed 2 t45 bits already and the studs have not budged.
Any ideas??
Was thinking about cutting pipe and trying to blank the end of it somehow but open to suggestions :(
