EGR pipe is a goner

If you have an earlier engine fitted it is tested to the regulations in force for the year of the engine. But you must provide paperwork to prove it.
Not here it's not, enter VIN in MOT computer and it brings up the spec and check list. changing bits like engines cannot be done legally without going through a check procedure and logging the new engine number to the VIN:(

That is why you have to provide paperwork to prove it. It is not something they have to take your word for. At least that's what they do here.

But here you cannot down spec the emissions stuff, it has to comply with the year regs. That's not to say people don't do it and get away with it.

Are you saying all rangers will not pass because of possible engine changes ie a 1999 fitted with a non egr engine?

Will that not cause an hot spot? The EGR port is then blocked by the EGR valve about 12 mm further along from where the penny sits. Same difference to me.

Then it needs to be held open by Suction held open and vacume pipe blocked if Diaphragm has no leaks it should hold or make a holding tool

your missing clip is a p clip with nylon/rubber/poly bush in it,they are known to break without it due as you guessed to vibration, blocking both ends takes ten mins and is not a problem with hotspots, basically if you blank the bottom it makes the exhaust manifold a non egr manifold and gas flow is normal, all through the turbo!

Waste of cash, just remove or block the vacuum pipe that actuates the valve

There are lots of EGR removal kits on the market. The Allisport one I fitted is, I admit, a bit over the top and more expensive. However it looks identical to the original (except for the Allisport sticker!). All the pipes fit the same. It is well made. Welding is first class. If you want cheap use a penny (or a cent).

Nothing to worry about when I go for an MOT.

There was an unbelievable amount of **** in the old EGR valve.

nobody has been blocking manifold end they have been blocking egr end I guess becuase its quicker and less Hassle

It's not the same looking it has no egr sticking out of the side look!!!!

No i am not saying that. If you have a 1996 say Range rover that needs a full cat test for MOT. If you fit a 1992 engine in it that did not require the full cat test and you can provide paperwork to prove the engine is genuine. Then the emissions test would be done to 1992 standards not a full cat test.

That's not what I ment a 1999 egr model fitted with a non egr engine !

The only thing I can say is that when it is all bolted up with the metal EGR pipe on, the intercooler hose on and the rubber flexi pipe on, it looks like the original.

You would have to be a p38 anorak (like me) to spot the difference. The picture you posted rotates through 90 deg when it is bolted up.

Why would you want to hold the EGR open? You have lost me here. If you block the EGR pipe with a penny at the manifold end it will get no hotter than it gets unblocked. If it's blocked why would you want to hold EGR valve open?

It does not matter what year it is up to about 2004 i think. If you fit an earlier engine that cannot meet the full cat emissions test and can prove it. The engine is tested to the emissions standard of the time of it's manufacture.

A totally pointless waste of money. It won't add anything to the performance, so why not just if you want to do away with EGR, just block the existing one off.

If it's the one in the photo it looks nothing like the original. A tester would have to be blind not to see that.

Yes if its not got a Diaphragm sticking out the side like in this photo and what was on your original
