Educate me please.......diffs/tranfer boxes etc

my toyota is normally 2wd with selectable 4wd, offroad and even on wet roads 2wd is just useless unless you like powersliding into trees/lorrys/roundabouts/dog walkers/houses, i stick it in 4wd even if in driving onto a grassy verge to park!! :eek:

2wd + snow = handling like a 2 tonne shopping trolly with a broken wheel!!


if you still want it i've got a spare series 3 gearbox yer could buy!!
 
Its a green lane yes, and not one we were chewing up, sadly we got 3 quarters down and it deteriorated into a mess where tractors had obviously been hauling, hopefully the lane will be back to its normal self in a few months, was pointless turning around as we were already near the end.
 
yer see that how they deteriorate, folk saying oh! we're nearly at the end and they just plough on. if everybody did that then what starts as 50m of mud turns into 55m then 75m then 100m, and before yer know it the whole lane is mud.
responsible laning means that yer dint add your 2m worth of mud to the problem
 
Mate, not being funny but I dont need a lecture on how to green lane without destroying the environment, you weren't there, you didn't see the situation for yourself, so I ask you not to go around judging me.:confused:

I drive 3 miles down a lane in ok condition, and drive half a mile in shoddy condition, your saying I should have turned around and given the other 3 miles another hammering eh.........:rolleyes:

oh shut up, if you had any sense you'd see my post for what it is. information for those wot don't know . and why would i want to judge you? what you do is no concern of mine if you chose to drive on and make things worst thats up to you. My concern was that other might follow your example and make things worst for themselves and the rest of us., instead of going back along the firmer ground. that old 'you wasn't there' line is usually used by those that know they have dun the wrong thing but can't admit it.

A basic principle of off roading is that you shouldn't go beyond the point you cab turn round and go back unless you KNOW you can get out forwards. If the track you are driving will not withstand you turning round and going back along it you shouldn't be driving it.
Boring I know, but responsible often is boring.

And before you start going on about I wasn't there etc remember the thread you started you titled "Educate me please..."
