I have tried an extensive search on here and google and cannot find the answer.
The reason for the question has come up because I have an Auto 300tdi ES with EDC and have the 'Check Engine' light issue that is getting worse.
I have tried a different throttle position sensor, 2 x Air flow meters, a 4th injector from a working engine with no joy.
Now I also have gearbox issues since water got down the dipstick tube while playing in the floods last year so I brought a reconditioned gearbox from a mate which has been sitting in my garage until I get time to change it or the current gearbox give up. Just for info the current ones takes ages to change up when cold, often needing a boot to 4000 rpm to jolt it up, then its never a smooth box after that. I have done a couple of oil changes with no difference.
Then I get a PM from the guy I brought the Injector from, who is breaking his Disco, to say he has found another sensor on the gearbox. He gave me a fair price, but then I thought it must be on my spare gearbox, I will just swap it over.
But no such luck. I think I found the wire for the sensor, on the bracket where the 4th injector wire sits, but when I unplugged it the engine refused to start and idle.
This has lead me to a new question, as in the title, as I never knew there was a difference in the Gearboxes on the EDC models.
Can anyone shed some light on this please, as one very expensive gearbox may be up for sale.
