Hi guys

just a quick one. on a 300tdi 90 is it worth getting the EBC green stuff pads for front and back over Standard ones? cheers in advance

Merry Christmas

Well Ive just fitted some on the front of my D3 and have to say Im impressed, the D3 is a heavy lump and the std brakes whilst just okay arent really up to the weight of the car, new discs and ebc green pads, much much better, start to brake, brake a little harder the heat gets into the pads and you then slow down very quickly.
Im not sure they will make a massive difference on a live axle car as Im sure you have locked yours up at times? if so better brakes wont really help overcome the problem of keeping the tyres in contact with the road surface.
But if you do any towing or other heavy work that may sway it back to the ebc again.

Danny I havent a clue but it used to be like this
Green for the road
Yellow fast road
Red race track
Maybe ultimax is a halfway solution?

Is it worth it? That depends on what you consider worth paying for: Lets face it the original brakes were absolutely fine so if you are happy with them then sticking to standard shouldn't be a problem. The greenstuff pads will be an improvement but usually (and I haven't bought any for a Defender) they are quite a bit more expensive. You pay your money and take your choice. I run standard pads on my 110 but I pay well over twice the money to run greenstuff pads on my MK2 Jaguar and they are worth every penny for what I want from them.

I can't fault OEM pads to tell the truth. If the braking system is working well (mine finally is) it makes a huge difference

like lynall said, the brakes are plenty good enough. It's the grip to the ground that let's it down in my opinion. I do like ferodo pads though.

I always get greenstuff pads for my cars, loads less brake dust and they last forever. Got them on my 90 at the moment

I put Greenstuff pads on when I rebuilt my brakes in the spring of 2013. So far so good. Minimal wear - and I do a lot of miles - plus the braking effectiveness is pretty good, and a bit sharper than it was before.

Just washed the disco this morning and hadnt noticed until now but you are spot on, the lack of brake dust is amazing.
