Hey Up Peepz,
Im a new member and have been reading through the forum in regards to the EAS fault.
At the moment they P38 I have has a 'Hard Fault' which basically means its on its arse slammed to the floor on its bump stops lol. Looks quite cool imho apart from ride comfort lol.
I managed to get a USB OBD2 Cable to work with the RSW software as you have said before.
Now from what i gather either the compressor has gone or its got a major air leak. If anyone from Sheffield is willing to help diagnose it further be my guest lol.
The faults that come up with the EAS Software are as follows -

F8 - 248
F9 - 249
FA - 250
FB - 251
FC - 252

3 : F8:8_Hidden
4 : RL signal incorrect
5 : F8:32_Hidden
6 : RR signal incorrect
7 : F8:128_Hidden
0 : Engine speed fault
3 : Pressure signal constantly low
4 : Air supply fault
5 : Air supply leak
6 : Target heights incorrect
7 : Vehicle has moved
1 : Cannot lower FR
3 : Cannot lower RR
4 : FA:16_Hidden
5 : FA:32_Hidden
6 : FA:64_Hidden
7 : FA:128_Hidden
0 : FL valve stuck open
1 : FR valve stuck open
3 : RR valve stuck open
4 : Inlet valve stuck open
5 : Exhaust valve stuck open
6 : FB:64_Hidden
7 : FB:128_Hidden
2 : RL valve stuck closed
3 : RR valve stuck closed
4 : Inlet valve stuck closed
5 : Exhaust valve stuck closed
6 : FC:64_Hidden
7 : FC:128_Hidden

Can anybody help out?

P.S Fault first happened on Motorway en Route to leicester lol managed to pull in at Trowell Services then got it on a flatbed home. Not gone backup since. Also Compressor got replaced at MPVS Ltd in May 2010, Surely they do not wear out this quickly?

Remove the compressor - three bolts - don't lose the rubber mounts and remember which way up the washers go. Disconnect the blue pipe underneath. Using the software run the compressor. If you can hold your finger over the pipe, against the airflow, then the compressor is shagged and you'll have to repair / replace before you go any further. Once you've got a working compressor clear all of the faults and then see which reappear when you try again.

Then you might like to spend some time with the search function on here, there are probably more posts on suspension than any other fault and with the information on here you could completely rebuild the system.

because at that time i wasnt sure if the obd2 cable i had would work with the rsw software so thought i would take a chance. apologies on 'wasting' your time but it was a genuine question at the time and i managed to get the software working with the obd2 cable i had.

With all the faults it has pulled, some of which should not be there at the same time as others, it would appear it ain't working too well. Did you change the wiring on the OBD2 cable to that which is required for EASunlock?

No i just had an OBD2 Vag Cable at hand and just gave it a go. Looks like i will need the kit after all. need to check compressor but will try it tonight but i have never looked over the system of a p38 before so looks like im going to have some fun.
You could do with a sticky tbh of a fault checklist sort of thing. I have been looking through posts from other people etc and it just would be a handy guide to reference to.

Most of them faults i remember seeing when recovery truck plugged their machine in. a very nice piece of kit with various keys and the EAS system had its own 'key'. So i am guessing it must be decent?
I will get the proper lead etc but just wanted to know how to get it diagnosed.

You can't have valves stuck open and closed at same time it ain't possible. Think your compressor is goosed. I have never seen as many faults on an EAS. Get the proper cable and try again. There is a diagram on RSW site of how to wire cable.

had the same problem about a year ago, mostly it means no air pressure, check the compressor and overhaul if its low on pressure, clear the faults and try, if it goes again check all the pies and joints for leaks with soapy water in a spray, if thats no good get a second hand valve block and try that

Look at the www.rswsolutions.com website, there is a comprehensive list of faults with explanations so no need for a sticky.
That list of faults sugests that you are not really communicating with the EAS, it's just a list of the possible faults. In any case, you should be able to clear the faults then re- read which should then give you the actual faults.
It could also be that if you are using a USB to serial convertor it is not working properly, that will also give you a strange list of faults in some circumstances.
If you can solder, it should be easy enough to mod your OBD cable to suit the EAS.
