earth points/electrical fault?????pls help

hi all have looked at rave and am struggling to find all the earth points as been suggested this may be the cause of my problem basically the display is saying (electrical fault refer to handbook) and the problems ive noticed are as follows
1.no interior lights
2.display also saying rh f door open
3.susspension will adjust but not go down to lowest setting
4.headlights come on when i start it but are switched of
5.no remote cl or cl from key
6.fog switches do not work
think that is it for now ive found a couple of earth points under bonnet around the fuse box area are there any in the car also i have felt the carpets and are all dry as was also suggested possible o ring failure and moisture on around becm connections cant really tell you alot more any help would be great and also is it ok to drive like this or not ?
 
on drivers side take cover off the post and hav a look at the plug, if it is green as mine was that will be one of your problems. mine did a lot of what yours is doing..
 
the post your door bolts on to, has a trim cover on it take it off. you will see loads of wires with a big plug, befor you unplug take your bat lead off, so not to blow anything..
 
do i have to do anything befor i disconnect the battery and you talking about the plastic cover on the a post or there a cover somewhere near the hinges soz if stupid question just not infront of the car at the min be back in 15 mins so will look
 
we talking about the cover near the bonnet pull im taking it have removed and earths look intact am just going to disconnect the bat and see what plugs etc are like anymore ideas let me know will pop back in in a few mins to check laptop thanks again for help so far
 
hi again think i found the problem there was a plug that was corroded/dirty so have cleaned them all up and re conected the battery and seems to have solved the problem the only thing now is i cant get the passenger side front window to set have tried several times now up/down in one action etc etc but no joy any ideas on this pls and also thanks for all the advice saved me hours of searching im sure thanks again
 
if your car has been laid up for a while, just leave it a few days and try again, i had this when mine a sat for the winter..
 
no car has been in daily use but left it for 4-5 hours and is fine now so will leave alone if its working but thankyou everyone for all the help its much appriciated thanks
 
Re the windows not re-setting properly.

Had that several times on both my Mk2 Rover 800's (similar system). In my case it was simply that the window channels had become dry and were slowing the window's operation, which tricked the gubbins into not recognising when the window could and couldn't run freely...hence no one-touch up or down.

Lube the window runners with rubber/nylon lubricant - from Halfords in a big yellow aerosol (it's a bit like a slightly slimy WD40). Hopefully that will sort it. It's cheap and easy, so painless (just watch for overspray on interior trim or on the glass).
