Anyone local know the current status of this lane?

Been a couple of years since I last drove it. But at the weekend was passing with a mate who I'd previously mentioned it to, so went to have a look.

From the A614 end there was no gate (not open or closed - just gone) and a sign from Notts Police advising against illegal offroad driving, however no TRO notice as such.

Knowing the reputation of the lane due to 'the desert' and not having checked up on any recent TRO's issued (wasn't actually out laning, I'd just been shooting at Cockett Farm) I turned round and headed back down the A614 instead.

My instinct tells me the police sign is intended for users of the desert rather than the lane itself - as of course being a BOAT it isn't 'off-roading' and there were recent tyre tracks in the mud. However with the gate being removed not locked open or closed, has someone just weighed it in leaving unassuming drivers to believe the lane is open?

Eakring road is open, the notice from the police is for the tossers that stray off the correct route, there is some "washout" but you will get round it with care, last year the washout was quite bad,we came from Mansfield end and ended up using two sets of waffle boards to get down the drop, at that time it was about four foot !,last time we went down was in my mates standard disco, and we got through without problems.

Good to know!

Didn't think the police sign was for genuine green laners... but I always go by the motto 'if in doubt, turn about'

Will have a try next time i'm across that way.
