Hi - Ranger Rover L322 2003 4.4 V8

The audio started cutting out a few weeks ago. Then the car has gone silent for good.
I noticed when the problem was intermittent, that the DSP appeared in black, but became white when the sound came back.

Now the DSP doesn't even appear at all on the Sat-Nav screen and the car is silent.

I've read some where that the BMW DSP is easier and cheaper to source that the Land Rover model.

And other posts that say the DSP unit can be saved - or have connection issues.

Anybody got any ideas?

Check all the connections on the entertainment set up behind the left rear boot panel for water ingress, its known to get a bit wet in there from leaks
JLR even do a modification to help sort it, its a plastic sheet that goes behind the equipment:rolleyes:

Had exactly the same problem on my 04 TD6.
Problem was broken pin on plug to DSP.
Water drips onto DSP and causes a "fungus" build up on plugs and sockets.
Remove DSP and clean up all the plugs and sockets with switch cleaner, toothbrush and tissue paper or lint free cloth.
Also open up the DSP and do the same inside cleaning up and growth on the boards.
There is a chap on fleabay who repairs DSPs for £140, he is very helpful if you leave him a message and will tell you if it is fixable.
If you are good with a soldering iron on circuit boards you can repair damaged bits yourself but I wouldn't recommend this if you are not used to it.
Good luck with it.

Thanks for your insights. I had a look at the DSP. 2 sockets had some corrosion on them (see pics)
Also there seems to be another unit bolted to the DSP casing. any ideas what that is? The TV module.

How easy is it to get the DSP out?

thanks guys

To remove DSP just unbolt the two 8mm bolts, disconnect the three plugs and just lift it out of its slot.
Take care that you don't drop the clips for the bolts I think it may be the radio that is bolted to the DSP but it may be the TV,

Thanks SilverParrot.
I saw another post that sounded like there was a third impossible-to-get-at bolt.
But I'll proceed with caution.
BTW I've got in contact with the bloke on eBay that repairs DSP and shown him the photos - and he says he can repair it

Thanks

Mine was quite tight and I had to wiggle it and tug quite hard to get it out but it did eventually move. It has two lugs to locate it at the bottom and these are what is probably stopping it from moving. It can also be a bit of a lining up struggle to get it back but not difficult.
Good luck.
