Hi, i know the topic has been excessively covered, but what happens to my car is odd.

It seems to be related to the battery. When i trickle charge the battery everything works normally. After i drive the car and turn off the engine a couple of times (shopping and then petrol station) the problem starts till i charge it again.
I’ve tested the battery, it holds 12.6v even after 3-4 days, alternator seems to be charging the battery to 14.2v. There is no battery drain as far as i could test with multimeter. Battery is Varta 019 silver dynamic H3 100A 830A.

Another thing I’ve read is about the DSP having water ingress. I’ve never seen any DSP settings in audio menu so o don’t know if there is no DSP or if there is and is not working. The car is a Range Rover L322 HSE 2010 model.

Any help i would appreciate.

kind regards

Welcome.
You seem to have answered your own question. It has been covered a thousand times, and usually the battery is to blame. These vehs do not like short hops. They do not give enough time to replenish what is used on start up. Even with the slightly less electrickery on the HSE.
When are you testing the battery? At the point where problems are showing , or after you have charged it up? If the latter, change to the former. :)
Also , I'm not au fait with the HSE but I'd advise get a bigger battery. I'm sure someone will be along to say what the HSE actually needs power wise, but 830 seems low.

Can anybody suggest a good battery? Is a 020 battery going to fit in the car? They seem to be bigger capacity and probably recommended?

MF31-1000 from Battery Megastore on line less then £100 delivered to your door. It's the biggest battery that will fit. NO affiliation just a happy user.
Make sure you fully charge any new battery before fitting.

The MF31-1000 is the go to battery and fit just by a couple of mm`s and you have to put the bonnet in to service mode to get better access.

Thank you guys, Is that suitable for L322 though? I had a search and I see results regarding P38 and MF31-1000. Will it need any alterations on the car to fit it in?
Thanks

Thanks, I just had the issue: Battery was charged up, started the car everything OK, then drove car for 20 mins, had a walk, got back, everything OK, drove back home (20 mins) turned off the car ,left it 10 mins, turn it back on... black screen resetting flipping through the logos and black screen. i suspect the battery too , people suggested Hankook MF31-1000 115Ah/1000CCA , i a bit sceptical if it fits the car though as its too high. (L330 x W172 x H242mm)

Easy solution is measure the space ;)
Also did you read the battery when issue showed, before charging/driving again? You won't get a true reading of issue, if you charge the battery before checking.

I got the MF31-1000 battery, garage said it won’t fit as the battery terminal clamp is short (it’s 3cm and MF31-1000 needs 4cm in length instead). I guess the battery’s terminals are different. I attach a picture with the old battery setup the distance from the two screws on the left to the terminal clamp is 3cm and they said is short for the MF31-1000. No idea what to do, do i need something like a terminal clamp extender?

When I fitted the Big battery, I had to reconfigure the Mega fuse (that black box) as it didnt fit down the side of the battery.

Its only a big fuse so a short jumper from a terminal that does fit, to the box then tuck it down the side could be done.

Or a different battery with same capacity?

I already bought the Hankook MF31-1000 battery suggetsed by various people. I can't send it back, and also who says if I buy another one that it will actually fit?

I believe you have misquoted me.
At no time did I say buy a new battery that was her ladyship who said that. As she has me on the naughty step, she wouldn't see my comment and chooses to miss out on a load of great info from many members as her naughty step is loooong:rolleyes:.

Hi Marjon, I don't think I understand what you say... who's ladyship? Anyway its just a battery we'll get it installed :)

You will soon, I am sure. But anyway back on topic

If you look at the pics I posted the "blackbox" comes apart and can be orientated in a different way. Or as I said a short jumper made up to connect the mega fuse but keep the main red 1s on the terminal.

If that battery is suitable or not was not in my suggestion or selection, It was my way to help you to get it to fit:)

You must have a different set up from those who suggested the Hankook, as I'm sure they wouldn't lead you astray deliberately. Also , apologies as I didn't realise you had bought a battery you couldn't exchange. I'm sure you and your mechanic will work something out :)
