Hi all I'm planning on taking my front bumper and a bar off soon so I can re spray them.

I was wondering though about fitting some of them LED day running lights and thought I'd ask can you get them so they just fit onto the existing bumper on my 2004 CSW 90 td5.

I know Ive seen RDX and others selling a complete bumper with them in but surely all you do is cut a slot out of existing bumper and drop them in?

What are the best lights to get and are there any switching requirements for the MoT?

Thanks all

Don't day running lights have to come on with the ignition but turn off with the dipped and main beam?

Could work if you have a splice a live feed from the headlights to a normally-on relay so when the headlights receive power the relay will switch off the running lights.

I think any will fit in a standard bumper it just depends how much cutting/fiddling you want to do. If I was going to do it I'd make it easy on myself and get round ones similar to: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=161199181571 so fitment would just need cutting the right size hole with an arbor.

Although they're 70mm so could be a bit big.

Look for 12mm eagle eye leds on the bay - 9-10w ones would want 2-4 on each side. I have two on each side that come on with the ignition. They don't need to go off with the lights on though.

I have minute fitted to a switch under the dash so I can switch them off while lamping on the farm, though they're actually very good for navigating at low speed without using the headlights and alerting everything nearby that I'm there.
I was skeptical about drls too at first, but actually I think they are useful for helping the others on the road see you a little sooner.

Whilst not led or drl I got a pair of valeo lamps off a renault, at the scrappy for a fiver, even got the link harness with plugs
Just marked the bumper and got one of the holesaws at it.

Just need to repaint the bumper and put the endcaps on

the advantage of LED is that the current draw is minimal & don't require relays, which makes them a piece of **** to wire in.

if you want them on all time with ignition
Just find an ignition live and earth them

If you want the going off with dipped beam
Find an ignition live & the put the earth onto positive side of the dipped headlight

Obviously with any aftermarket part fit an inline fuse (5amp more than enough)

Hi all thanks for the posts, i was personally thinking of the long thin rectangular LED Strips as an alternative to the round ones.

Also as far as wiring they just require an ignition feed dont they?

I would want them to be on all the time regardless of whether my head lights or side lights are on. BUT is this road legal and MOT passable

this link shows some good ones, having that lip over the bumper makes it easier to cut them out

Those look good, though I'd have moved them in a bit. What sort of beam/pattern do they throw - do they need aligning at all?

They are fog type so through short fan kinda pattern
You're right about setting them back a bit but was going to fit some kind of bezel type finisher and sink em in more
But for the money, bargain
