L322 Bad fitment on the front bumper ?

Hi all, Rather trivial issue here but something thats caught my eye for detail. Ever since owning my L322 the front bumper has never fit right, i know it was removed once for paint but thats it. i've gone round and replaced the slidy/clip brakets on the sides as they were broken but hasn’t helped the gap as shown in the photos. Nothing fowling the bumper, i've even tried different headlight units. Any help with this mystery would be greatly appreciated

Is it the correct bumper model and not a later one?

Yes its the correct bumper for that year, so a pre facelift, Which makes it evermore confusing to its wonky fitment. Was having a poke around yesterday afternoon and found the corners are being held on a lip under the headlight assembly. There job looks to be to pull the corners up. So the complete opposite of what mines doing, my hasty conclusion was the plasics just old and maybe warped on my example. Maybe a carpark bump too ?
