Howdy all,

As some of you know, I like lights :D

Here is my roof bar set up....

which have LED's inserted for side lights ;)

and the rear setup.....

again these have red leds fitted so they also act as tail lights ;)

Now I am thinking of updating them all to LED lights, something along the lines of these Cree 18w versions....

However as I need 8 of them, its going to be a dear do, so I thought I would ask if anyone is running any LED lights and what you think of them.

I do have switches on the lights (for 2 lights or 4 lights on the front) for them to come on independently (as well as with main beam (well not the rear ones!) to use as work lights, so I thought the LED ones will use less juice, plus hopefully be brighter.

I did change all of our home GU10 bulbs to cree LED ones, and they only lasted about 3 months before they started to flicker, so that was a waste of money - 33 bulbs I bought!!!

Not fancing the LED light bars, as they won't fit my setup ;)

i have LED lights, all from fourby.co.uk i have the square ones on the bar and the round ones in the same place as yours. all amazingly bright and take next to no juice.

Also if you want decent LED GU10s get in touch, i can see you some with a 5yr gurantee that we fit everywhere

Thanks, do you have any links to the ones you have, or pics of the brightness in the dark etc (although I know they are hard to take sometimes). Also how long have you had them?

The GU10's I got had guarantees, luckily, so managed to return them, so now a bit more reluctant to shell out unless I have a recommendation so to speak.

Thanks - that's my problem, there are so many types about I don't just want to buy a set without hopefully speaking to someone first with them to know they are worth it, as some I have seen are very narrow direct beams, which are fine for spots, but no good for the rear lights for example.....

I've bought one as a sample - before splashing out on the rest.

Seems fine when wired directly to a battery. Feels like a nice "weighty" quality too. Don't believe the "London" address, that supplier is in China just like all of the others. Search Ebay - the best deal is £112 something for ten! So one quick mock up later and ten (or even twelve) is the number I'm going for.

I've been running LED light s for some 3years at home, GU10, MR16, 5 metre 5050 flexible strips and even PIR floodlights outside.
In the that time I've had 2 fail which were replaced FOC under warrenty. I buy direct from a factory in China and pay about £2.80 for 3 watt GU10's, £8 or so for 20 watt floods including postage. Now saving me about €10 per month on electricity.
I don't know where you got you lamps, but they were obviously not representitive.

am i wrong or are those 18w cree both cheaper, more rugged and have better specs than the other link?

Thanks Rob, yeah i just put that link up as an example.

What's the light output like?

Do you have a link for the 10 lights, save me trawling ebay?

That's what I thought, and hoping someone might already have them, so hopefully Rob will report back with some good news.....

you've got me looking at leds now :D

why would you want a bunch of these over a light bar?

led light bars seem to cheaper and have higher output for the space.
