Hi everyone,
Just me here (D4 newbee) with another silly question:

My 2010 D4 HSE has daytime running lights.
They only come on when I have the light switch turned to “side lights” and/or “headlights”

I’m also assuming that they come on when I have the switch turned to “Auto lights “ (when it’s dark enough)

But I thought they were supposed to come on in normal daylight (with the lights set to “Auto lights”) and the car out of Park, as they do in my wife’s car.

Am I doing something wrong?

Cheers

Ok making an assumption here.
Our 2011 L322. Has very similar lights as your picture, but that makes no diff.

The DLR is a setting in the "brain" that has to be switched on.
Ours is set to headlight on, or something like that and are on with the switch in the off position. Even to the point sometimes we drive in the dark and then realize no illumination to the dash switches, so turn the lights on properly.

If you have to turn on the switch to get any lights then I guess it hasn't been set for DLR lights, and it will need some diagnostics to change the setting.

Ah,
Thanks for the explanation!
I’ve recently bought the car and having spent extra on replacing the fuel tank cradle/shield, I’m having to save the pennies to buy the GAP IID tool.

I know there are others out there, but like anything else, I only want to spend the money once and get it right, so the GAP it is (all be it in a couple of weeks!) 😉

Hi

Hope u don’t mind me adding but if u keep an eye out for the D3/4 forum the gap iid they sometimes come up second hand

Hi,
This is what the car came with.
Tiny yellow led’s .

It’s not the later, facelift headlights.

I admit the first thing we brought when we got our L322 was the GAP its a lot of money but has been used and saved more money than it cost so far in our ownership, and its not been used much.
So a good buy as far as I am concerned.

They’re currently in the £500 ballpark.
I did see some for sale on fleebay, but have been warned by others on here to be careful about Chinese fakes that can cause damage!

Do add to the cost a re-registration fee as you would need to change the ownership to change the VIN to work on your car.
Just a little extra hassle to cope with and to bare in mind for the price, for the seamless new sale ;).

Plus cheapest I’ve seen is £400 plus vat here
