Driveshaft Removal/Extraction Tools

Does anyone know if there is a driveshaft extractor /puller for the Range Rover . I know that when I did the extraction and replacement of the shafts for the ABS repairs , they were a pain in the butt using heavy hammers etc.
 
Know what you mean, did front left cv boot on mine last year big hammer and a drift to get drive shaft out of hub but getting it back in !!! kept moving it round a spline thinking it must just go on in one place but no luck,in the end I held the shaft and knocked the hub on to it. I did see somewhere on here that somebody had drilled and tapped into the end of the shaft so they could screw a bolt into it to pull it in and thats just what I shall do next time its needed.
 
I've been thinking about this myself. I think you would need a heavy metal plate and 3 long bolts. The the plate needs to be drilled to fit over the studs plus 3 tapped holes that sit over the 3 tabs of the swivel hub. The shaft is then pulled out by screwing down the long bolts against the tabs whilst being held by the bolted down studs.

If you don't want to risk stretching your studs then you would need a puller with the plate center tapped to the puller hub. The puller would fit onto the hub and the shaft pulled out by the 3 long bolt as above.
 
Is this removing the complete drive shaft from inboard into diff? I’m sure there is a tool in Rave if talking L322 like a big flat lever
 
Hitting them from outside the hub in is one thing , but getting them drawn back in through the hub was worse. I know that laser do an extraction/puller set , but it’s expensive. Just wandering if there is something more specific out there for the job.

I am resurrecting this thread to see if anyone has more ideas , got stuck again trying extract the rear shaft to replace the top and bottom bushes.
Now I have damaged the end of the shaft and the nut wont go on . I have the whole hub and shaft off but my press is tool small to allow the shaft joint in through the frame of the press.
Wary of a puller used on the hub as iit may separate the hub bearing fro housing.

Put the nut back on more than half way next time before using the Manchester micrometer.;)
 
Hmm , should have known better , was too keen to bash it out without remembering my last effort 2yrs ago. So what can I do now .The hub and shaft is out , will have to find bigger press and dress up shaft once out.
 
If you are on the first side and it’s an L322 you don’t need to remove the driveshaft to replace top and bottom bushes if you use a press kit

Yes the only reason I took the driveshaft off was to tool was;nt able , following Laser ;s guide I was removing it the wrong way , had shaft out by this time lol.
That tool for deburring is fine but the damage is on the edge of thread and if I use it , it will take off the security ccut outs at the end., unless I spot weld of course .
Soft ****e these driveshafts they mushroom too much .

But I bought one of these hydraulic pullers and found it very good, just wondered on the off chance if may be of use in this application

also have one of those Bush extractor kits , made life a lot easier when I done my D3 bushes

ps , as a side note they also do one for battery terminals

I’ll get my coat before I get something thrown at me, lmao

Thanks guys , some funny I suppose.
Used bigger press , driveshaft out but bush housing oval , but threads cleaned up , going to try refitting old bush and heat to square up bush housing.
Managed to get the old bush in under a lot of heat, could have been better with oxycetylene, however mapgas was just able enough. Will try to fit new bush tomorrow but will have to try a hydraulic press , a bit to much for the Laser tool.
