Driveshaft/Hub nut

Hi all!

We have recently bought a new driveshaft for the rear. The joint where it connects to the housing that then slides in the diff is different than standard (original had like 3 sides but new one is just a round part). Still fits perfect, same length etc.

Now for the problematic part. The thread on the shaft for the hub nut is different to all the hub nuts I can find. Original is quite a fine thread where as new one is a very wide chunky style thread. Does anyone at all know what thread type this is so I can get a hub nut? It's all we need to get it back together :(

It's a cheap aftermarket shaft, so might vibrate. I'd only recommend OE shafts are fitted to the FL1.

The new shaft should have been supplied with a nut, especially so if it's got a non standard thread. Be aware that a non standard thread, will also mean a non standard tightening torque.

I'd be sending the shaft back, and get an OE replacement.

Sorry Freelander 2 it's on - although I understand your point isn't model specific :)

It's my dad's car and he ordered it off a newer Freelander 2 as a quick fix just now. Turned out not a quick fix as we have no nut! :(

If we order a new OE one, do they all come with the Tri-joint on the diff end? Aftermarket are round?
