bonjour, today i changed the two rear wheel bearings with a 10 tons press, no problems for that but,
a new driveshaft nut which must be set on 400Nm i think i was on 100 Nw and i can't turn the hub anymore
i went back to 50Nm and can turn the hub by hand ,this on both wheels, so what went wrong? thanks

How did you fit the hub to the bearing?? If the centre of the bearing is not supported the bearing can be damaged when pulling it in against the ball race.

SKF are good bearings. How did you fit the rotating part with the wheel studs on ?? It is a tight fit and needs to be pressed in while rear of centre part of bearing is supported. Not put force through bearing itself.

i don't understand what you mean, i got the bearing out with the press and the bearing in with the same press,
i found a youtube and did exactly the same thing , i have done some bearings before and never had a problem, i think 400Nm is a lot, i dont understand why it must be that much

How did you fit the rotating part with the wheel studs on ??
the hub with the wheel studs placed on the bottom of the press, the rest with bearing on top and pressed in

i don't understand what you mean,
The bearing needs to be pressed into the hub carrier and then the rotating part with the wheel studs on needs to be pressed into the centre of the bearing. When doing the second operation the force must not go through the bearing, the centre of the bearing has to be supported.

Don't suppose you changed driveshafts? There is an incorrect type with an abs band that could have caused it to bind. I am just thinking of ideas now as I think you did it all ok.

no i havent changed them, i will drive a bit like it is and will check the nuts, at least they don-t make any noise like it was before, so its ok for me, thanks

Just checking as you said you would drive it and then check the nuts. Not possible if staked over and I didn't want your wheels falling off !!
