drivers mirror in reverse

p38. My drivers mirror gose down when i select reverse but when i go back to park it stays down (i can move it back with the switchpack button), the passangers mirror is fine, works both ways, where do i start looking for a faulty sensor.

If you have the user manual handy, there are instructions for re-setting the mirror dip (something along the lines of key in position one, gearstick in reverse, adjust mirror the press memory button... or some such thing).

Could just be the memory playing up, so would give that a try before tearing anything apart looking for sensors. If you don't have the owners manual handy, a search on here should turn up the correct instructions, I'm sure there was a thread along these lines not that long ago.

Edit: The instructions in the user manual might just be to enable or disable the dip-when-reversing function altogether, I should be able to check later this evening if nobody has posted a clarification before I have a chance to fetch the manual.

Mine were not fully getting back into their initial position so I turned off this features (see manual), but if a solution is found for this problem I would love to know what is it

Automatic dipping for reverse gear selection (if fitted)

Vehicles with a drivers seat memory have a pre-stored function which causes the mirror to dip automatically whenever reverse gear is selected. If necessary the mirror positions can be altered as follows:

1. Turn the started switch to position "I" or "II" (do not start the engine)
2. Select reverse gear.
3. Adjust either or both mirrors to the desired positions
4. Press the seat MEMORY STORE switch together with either switch 1 or 2 (whichever corresponds with the drivers seat memory) for 2 seconds (the message centre displays 'MIRROR DIP STORE')

To disable the dip function:

1. Turn the started switch to position "I" or "II" (do not start the engine)
2. Select reverse gear.
3. Press and hold the seat MEMORY STORE switch for 2 seconds and the message centre displays 'MIRROR DIP OFF' and a tone sounds.

To restore the dip function:

1. Turn the started switch to position "I" or "II" (do not start the engine)
2. Select reverse gear.
3. Press and hold the seat MEMORY STORE switch for 2 seconds and the message centre briefly displays 'MIRROR DIP ON' (returning mirrors to, either the factory or your own pre-set positions)
