hi folks had a problem with our freelander 1 was driving along and when pushed clutch down to change gear the thing would slow like I was braking hard, then there was a loud clunk from underneath, so stopped and looked could not feel any play in front drive shafts ( have conferted it to 2 wheel drive about a year ago) then when went to move it found it just bangs from front wheels and does not pull so got it recoverd to home could this be drive shaft problems. thanks

Why did U drop to 2 wheel drive - did U have a VCU problem ? Seems to me that U could now have an IRD problem

The inner CV's cause a vibration almost constantly,
worse on acceleration, but always there..there was a
clunk from time to time when taking up drive,
forwards & reverse and that has now completely stopped

Just had mine sorted,

P.S I had nearly a mile of play in my cv's when underneath checking..

So not the CV's me thinks

ird diff planetary gears could be knackered or the output shaft from the gearbox to ird has it's splines stripped.
