Hi all
Needing a bit of advice please.
I was under the rangie checking the bushes etc,Thing is i was able to rock the drag link bars front to back with my weak left hand,How much movement in the bushes should there be,these were new from land rover last year.i cant move them side to side just back to front is this acceptable or should i go back to land rover and complain.

cheers in advance.

You say drag links.....plural....

There is a Drag Link (From steering box drop arm to wheel hub) and a Track Rod (Runs behind the front axle from one wheel to the opposite.

There should be no longitudinal movement in the ball joints although they can rotate a little which will 'simulate' back and forward movement, but it should still be with appreciable resistance.

itl be the track rods then, they go from wheel to wheel behind the axle and in front.
sounds like they could be ok fromwhat you said about the movement,
hopefully.

cheers

it is the drag links in on about, did a check to make sure, lol.
I have 2 of them,1 behind and 1 in front of the axle.
They both rotate front to back, not side to side, hopefully there meant to do that.

One is a drag link and one is the track rod...

Only one of each as far as I know of..!!!

They will rotate with resistance, but not move about....by the sounds of it your *could* be OK....get it to a garage or a friendly 'Chap/Chapette in the know' and get them to look, always best to get steering and brakes checked out if you are not 100% sure as these two systems, above all else, can save your life.

cheers guys,im gonna get it checked properly.just to be sure.

Drag link is in front of axle track rod is behind it. TREs (track rod ends) can swivel about their available axis. You can have a little up and down movement in them. But there must be no side to side play.
