Hi guys/ girls,

Sorry if this has been asked before, couldn't find a thread tho...

I've got series doors on my tomcat, but the door top pins don't locate in the slots on the door itself....
The distance between the centres of the locating holes is 70cm, seems all the tops are 69cm...

Seems a waste buying new tops to just dismantle and shorten both sides by 1/2 a cm?

Any advice??

Thanks

Loz

Innit like the bowler rally defender.
You might have to purchase it through tomcat yourself. Or seek guidance from them.
Don't think many members will have such a vehicle to offer a definite answer.

If tomcat say they are definitely using series Doortops it could be the replacement door tops you have are part of a bad batch?

If the door aperture is exactly the same as series/ defender doors then you could just buy a complete new set of door bottoms and tops or some second hand ones on eBay just to test they are the same size and will fit.

Photos attached, the measurements I'm on about is the door top lacking pins that slot into the door and is secured by 2x nuts on the inside.

The pins are 69cm apart and the holes on the door are 70vm apart, is thus just due to a bad batch??
Cheers

Thanks for you're reply, the doors are standard off a series 3 I believe...

Yes you're right it's pretty much a defender chassis with the bowler tomcat frame and body panels mounted on.

Just busy fitting the front arches...

Aaahhh, now I was told series 3, so this might be the issue then...?

In which case I'll have to make series 2/3 tops fit by matching the pins to the door, as I can't see any series 1 door tops on flea bay....

Get in touch with tomcat motorsport. They took over from Bowler and will have all the info but I suspect a tomcat door is much shorter than a standard Series and uses Series 1 bottoms and Series 2/3 tops though by the sounds of it one or the other needs adapting.

All the Tomcats I have seen have series one type doors and no tops just open.

That's true mate, but I'll be going for IVA test with mine, as I want it road legal. Paul from tomcat motorsport has just passed one of his builds, big job mind...

Some people just MOT them as the donor vehicle, ie defender or RRC and declare mods on insurance...?
