Hi all, just a quickie.............................ahh..................ahh.........aahhhh thats better right!

Will the door mirrors from a 300 dicovery fit a 93 200 model?

My drivers side has fallen apart LHD and as the 300 mirrors give a better view behind (ideal for reversing down and around mountain tracks in the dark) I wondered about a little upgrade.

The electric ones on my Spanish spec 200tdi appear to be the same as the leccy ones in the UK so if anyone has done the swap?

I would like to keep the electrics and am not averse to a bit of wiring.

And whilst on the subject do other body parts fit like the doors bonnet ect, I know about the front lights and would like to upgrade them, is there a kit?

TIA

regards

Dave

Yes!!

300 mirrors will replace 200 if a couple of holes are drilled in the existing mirror mount.

If fitting leccy ones then the 200 use a 3 wire (one motor with clutch) and the 300 uses a 4 wire (two motors) system

You will need the 300 mirror adjustement switch and have to run a wire form the aforementioned switch to each door mirror (doddle)!

Now then, door mirrors.....that reminds me.
Can anyone shed any light on this problem before I start going mad with the screwdriver and knackering everything!

300 TDI
Electric mirrors
Passenger side works fine with the adjuster knob on dash to the right of steering wheel......driver's door mirror in-operable, ka-putt, knacked, dunt work innit!
Wire? Fuse? Dicky control switch? knackered mirror motor?

Any help appreciated, thank you.

asking questions like it isnt going to inspire much confidence in yer abilities

maybe very simple leccy mods isnt within your usual scope of works when performing radical conversions ?

Does the mirror motor still work even if the mirror itself doesn't move?

If you can hear the motor then all you probably need is a new mirror backing plate, costs £2.50 !!!

Sorry just trying to sort a similar thing on a classic Range Rover where the wiring is not like a 200 Discovery and the switchgear does not reverse the polarity to the motors in the same way. However I have rectified the problem by using a 300 Mirror switch and running extra wires for the functionality.

If you look in a Haynes manual you will see the 200tdi mirrors use just three wires to operate, if you imagine up/down is two wires and in/out is the third wire which engages the clutch to change direction. On the 300 system there is four wires (forget the heater element as they use two separate wires as do the 200) the four wires are the basic up/down and in/out and is done by changing the polarity at the switch.

Get a 300 switch and just follow the wires in the haynes manual, I just run an extra wire from each mirror to the switch and connected the others from the now defunct 200 switch.

Don't forget to get the plug that goes on the 300 switch with a few inches of loom.
