i have just discoverd a very worrying problem with me beloved 90
i can lock and unlock the drivers door with almost any key that will fit in the lock, even me bikelock key will lock it and unlock it.

question is do the barrels wear inside causing it to be opended by any key
do i just replace the whole thing or just the barrel?

You can get new barrels on eBay or Paddocks do them.
Think mine were about £9 for all three on my Defender 90.
If you really want to spend some money you can get replacement locks from Yale but they are not cheap and at the end of the day the landy doors are easily bent if they really want to gain access.

You could try some lube in the lock (not sure what is best) maybe the pins tripped by the key are stuck 'open'... put the door key in and give it a rogering and see if you free it up.
Bustersbus shows how to replace on his tips.... but if your handles are rusted badly you may need new ones before you start

i have the same thing on my lift up style door handles. quite worrying as you say, i was thinking about leaving my feral cats in the footwells overnight...
@ ian notts : how much for three please sir?

ssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! you just let the secret out to the tea leaves! You can open any landy with another landy key or a lolly pop stick.

mods: delete my post after 24hours please :D

told by a mechanic that any "old key" will fit! Ive fitted new locks on the front doors, only to find out the key also opened the old lock still fitted on rear door and vice verser for the rear door key! Was thinking of other locking devices until some bastard tried to nick my landy, they did alot of damage other than to the doors that were just unlocked!!
cheers
