Door lock problem

The central locking on my disco 1 has packed up, got replacement springs but not got round to fitting them yet.

I've been locking the car on the key but the drivers door lock was very stiff. On the weekend something gave in the lock and now I can't lock the door. The key turns 45 degrees either way and is not stiff any more but the door doesn't lock.

Will I need a new lock or can this be fixed?

sounds like the connecting rod has come off the back of the lock mechanism.

Door card off and have a look to see whats happening, no way of knowing if the rod has snapped off the back of the lock or if something has just come undone
