Hi

Have tried doing a search but not really come up with anything, I have purchased a L reg 200tdi disco to use as a donor for my 1985 petrol 90. Obviously I'm using the engine, can I use the LT77 gearbox, transfer box also ? And what about axles ? Planning on using the rear one so I have disc breaks, do I have to use the front axle also ? Been told the axles on the disco are off a 300tdi disco.

Thanks in advance

Osp

The axles should bolt straight on, depending whether the front disco callipers are single or dual circuits will dictate whether to use your existing ones. If they are 300 axles then you may need to use the output flange from your original axle to mate with your 90's rear prop. The front axle will also have the wider type radius arm brackets so fit them in conjunction with the discovery radius arms.

The transfer box should bolt straight onto your gearbox (a search on here will tell you which speedo drive you need to get an accurate reading). If you use the gearbox then the transfer box lever will be in the same place, but the gearstick will come up through the edge of the seatbox. Picture shows a disco r380 in the same position.

Hi
Thanks for that, will use my original lt77 gearbox and put the disco transfer box on. I need to order a set of correct angle radius arms so will get the wider ones to accommodate the 300tdi axle

Why not Just use the disco ones

Or are you puting a big lift on and need caster creation arms

The disco is being delivered tonight so will have a quick look at the calipers, would be easier to use the original 90 axle, but guess its not much to change them over. Think all brake lines will be renewed anyway, just to be on the safe side.

Hi

Just had a look at my donor disco now that it is here, front calipers have dual brake lines going into them, where as my 90 calipers have single feed going to them. How do I get round this ? Do I need to use the disco master cylinder ?

Cheers

Is it dual brake lines to both or an in-and-out on one and a bleed nipple on the other?

Regardless you could just block any extras off with a bleed nipple.

Think it's dual lines, 2 pipes from master cylinder go down to each caliper, if I can put the original 90 calipers onto the disco axle it will be much easier. I'm working on the back part of chassis at the moment ( I'm planning ahead ) I have stripped it down to a bare chassis to weld, prep and paint......... Should post some pics really
