Sure it's the chain and not a drive shaft? I have the same and I've been told it sounds more like a drive shaft.
Driveshaft was overhauled last summer. I am quite sure it's this.

What's the guarantee and how long are you keeping the vehicle ?
Call Ashcroft and ask them which chain they use in their rebuilds, which they warranty.
If it's this one, it's probably a good buy, as they make specific claims for it on the site.
Should it stretch or otherwise fail, then you have a leg to stand on.

Thanks, I've emailed them, as they are closed at the weekend. I shall buy the chain from them. Just asked what other parts I need to do while it's off.

Plus the cost of transport each way from FranceThey do a rebuild for 560 - they'll probably try and sell you one of those.
This may be worthy of consideration, as it de-risks the whole business and takes a whole bunch of time out of it. One in, one out, job done.

I saw that, thanks, but the Ashcroft rebuild changes a whole load of other parts.
