Does this sound fair to you guys?

My disco had to be recovered from my house to my local LR Indy at a cost of £70 the garage phoned today and said its your fuel pump so I said you guys fitted a new pump about 5 months ago. Silence then ok I will phone you back
So I had to phone them and the boss man said "yes it's the fuel pump I have ordered you a Genuine LR one" Yikes I said that's going to cost is their a warranty on the old one as I have only done around 200 miles?
And he said I will have to pay the full amount and they will see if they can get a refund on the old pump 😫
Sounds like I am going to get screwed what you think?

Your warranty claim is with them as they supplied the pump to you, so they should replace the item like for like, but is their labour also included in the your warranty?.

If you going for a perceived better item as a replacement then u may have to pay a sum to cover the additional cost of that item.

If it was something like a clutch going faulty in 200 miles then u may have to pay in full for a replacement and wait for a refund, they would have had to sent that back to the manufacture so they can decide why the clutch was faulty, materials or the driver, if materials then the manufacture picks up the bill.

Was it a brand new pump fitted by a garage

Sounds a bit like they have realized the pump they fitted is sub standard so they are going with the LR one this time round. However surely that's their problem as they supplied it to you so should knock the cost off your bill? Really they should cover the labour too but best of luck with that one.

Davevx YES brand new pump from the same garage @ £125 so I was assuming it was a middle of the road pump not a Britpart crap
Steveyorks Thanks I would have thought the same I Am happy to cover the extra expense for the better pump but that's all (I think that's fair as I have already had to pay out for recovery)
I should find out today and will keep you posted

I own a car garage and all parts that are bought from suppliers come with 12 months parts AND labour guarantee as you can do a warranty claim through the supplier so you shouldnt have to pay a penny mate

Even budget branded parts through britpart will carry that warranty
