Does anyone use this sort of additive?

I have heard it is useful for an mot failure that just misses out on the emissions target, but I think its only petrol engines?
 
I've used all kind of additives mostly made by Liqui moly some with noticeable effect others with less and i doubt that these new formulas would cause any damage... eventually you'll realise that the advertising is exagerated and the effect is not as expected that's all.

I will give it a miss then. I have used redEx before to get it through the emissions on the MOT.
 
I'm sure that you'll find bad reviews for redex too if you search... it's a jungle out there with these products and you can't 100% rely on any review on the web, some of them are sponsored by the sellers others by the competitors, the only 100% reliable review is what you personnaly think after you tried it on your own vehicle :cool:

Obviously in the advert an old grimy engine suddenly becomes shinier than new. I presume its a bit like Redex. Has anyone trialled additives and what were the results? A bit worried that to have much effect they must be powerful enough to damage injector seals etc.

I used it. My disco failed on emissions, the limit was 3 (of whatever they measure) and mine was 7.8, so an epic fail by any standard. A bottle of cataclean and about 20 miles of thrashing, it measured 0.14.... !!
 
I have not used any...YET.
But I was tempted when in Aldi on Tuesday as they had REDEX (for petrol & Diseasel) on sale.
Going to chuck a bottle-full in when I go to fill up next.

Hoyl turds batman 7.8, thats got to be some sort of record?
 
my last emissions test was max limit , 1.50 ——- final reading with both egrs blanked 0.52
 
I use this on my diesel and worked very nicely.

Maybe the 20 miles of thrashing did the job? Italian tune up?

Just checked my last emissions test was 0.24. Bog standard state of tune.

Yes thats mega high, I would bet even the tester was surprised?
My old ****ty def 90 200tdi with twiddled pump was under 2 no worries and the D3 was 1.09.

Any diesel likes to be worked and every now and then wring its bloody neck.
 
I use a 50ml dose of Millers Oil for diesel, on every tank. Brilliant, and gives a boost which is cheaper that paying for Shell Premium fuel. I thought it was a placebo effect, but chucked a dose in my lads 120D BMW, and he noticed straight away...
 
The only additive I use in my Td5 is two stroke oil. Have used this for years.
138 k miles, not a bit of smoke,even when accelerating hard. Instant start.
Usually top up from half tank and add about 150ml of 2so.
If interested just google "2so in diesel " will take hours to read all.
I recommend trying it out. I buy my 2so in Morrisons at £2 for a bottle.
