does a L77 gearbox fit on a 300 tdi??

hi i am fitting a 300 tdi to my 1991 defender 90 it has a 2.5 n/a turbo it has a L77 gear box will a 300tdi out of disco fit on to that box?? cheers if not how can i get round it??

i thought you had to use a 200tdi flywheel housing...no?

I've got a 1989 90 with an lt77 and 300tdi, I didn't do the conversion, the previous owner did but it appears that most of the holes line up between the bellhousing/engine. I do have 2 studs missing but it's still plenty strong enough without them. Have a look in the 300TDi section, somebody is doing a 300 conversion there. let me know if you need any more info and i shall see what i can do

just remove studs if you look at td5 very few bolts hold it together ore v8 wheres there none around the bottom ,done quite a few never been a problem

I thought you had to cut the transmission tunnel and seatbox though because the gearbox is a different shape?

If you use the short stick disco lt77...yes..if its the long stick defender...no.

No because he is leaving his LT77 where it is and is fitting a 300tdi to his vehicle, so what will happen is the 300tdi will sit further back by about 4 inches but it will mate up fine.
