hi all

My vehicle is a 300tdi '98 (obviously) manual T 'reg safari

Suppose the title says it all really, I had my black plastic dash centre out looking for a very annoying rattle (which was the heater box and was fixed by screwing a piece of wood to the stereo frame to apply pressure on the box to stop the rattle) and thought while I was in there I would check and prob re-solder my spider for good measure...but it's not there. I'm just wondering if it will be in there somewhere and maybe been moved after a previous fix or whether they had stopped fitting them by '98???

One other thing...my fuel cut off switch does not have the usual blade connector but a 3 pin multi plug between the pump and the block, I haven't seen this before

Thanks in advance

if yours has solenoid covered its a dds injection pump and needs a signal to operate not a spider to cut solenoid supply as a security measure
dds type below

Am I rite in thinking the black bit with the wires and the blue multi plug behind the a/c pipe are for the egr (when it was there)

Thanks again

Brilliant, so my spider hasn't just crawled off then, thanks for that.
So for simplicity incase anything goes wrong would I be better/able to fit the other type of solenoid that I just need to put a live to???

So is the black bit with wires that go to the blue multiplug to control the egr then?

Thanks

if in the future you need to you can break the cover off and remove the 2 security screws or the other way round, and then just use a single ignition live wire which will be one of the 3 to the solenoid under the cover

Thanks for that, if I do ever need to do that would I spike anything by trying the wrong wires first? Could I unplug the black multiplug going to it and put power to that...does the solenoid earth thru the body or does it have to have an earth wire

no you wont spike anything ,solenoid earths through the pimp to engine etc, only one wire will have a 12v ignition feed, though you could just fit a fresh one

Ok thank you again

While we're on this sort of subject, for all the time I've had this vehicle when I turn the key to the start position there is sometimes a time delay of a second or so or a bit longer, there's usually a split second delay but often enough it's longer. And also when it's rained but not all that often my interior light flickers almost in timing but I've about put that down to land rovers being about as water tight as a sieve.
