howdy petrol chuggers :)
As the title question goes - are most rover v8 carb arrangements on hif44's or something else? I'm after one to replace the hif38 on my mini and thought it might be a better way to get hold of one!

Of course if anyone has a hif44 in reasonable nick that they will part with then let me know. I'll happily buy or trade any Disco 1 parts (have a 50th anniversary edition tdi that I'm stripping) so let me know...

Cheers :)

Not all HIF series have a choke built in as far as I remember so take care what you buy. My jag has HIF7s and it uses an separate AED (Aux enrichment device) as a choke. You'd be better with HS6 (or the metric HIF44 ) or if you can find them HS8s. The numbers refer to the number of 1/8ths over 1 inch so 6 is 1"6/8ths = 44mm etc HS have a separate bowl/float on the side of the carb were as HIF the bowl was built in underneath. Burlen Fuel Systems is a good website for SU info

My 3.9 is running twin Hif44 with bigger jets and needles. I will be going Megasquirt in the future - got all the kit just no time to sort it out
