So the other day noticed a bit of oil on the inside of the rear tyre closer inspection appeared to be a cocktail of ep90 and grease so looked like both stub axle an dhub seals failed.

Jacked up the wheel and felt for play in bearings. No Play detected and no noise detectable on spinning or driving.

Great i thought strip clean and fresh seals was expecting to finish today.

When cleaning I noticed the outer bearing race spin in the hub gave it a few taps with a punch and still spinning so Is this just a new bearing or a bearing and hub assembly?

Also noticed so minor pitting on the stub axle again assume worth replacing as it has to come off anyway?

going for Timken bearings.

genuine hubs are pricey but are there any after market ones worth a mention (no britpart).

Thanks

Rich

If bearing track spins in hub its knack, any pitting on the stub axle where the seal runs pretty much means the same.

The bearing outer race will be harder than the hub so chances are the hub has worn more than the bearing, that said, if it is still a good fit you could use a Loctite type of bearing seal and that should stop the bearing spinning in the hub (all needs to be properly grease free)
