uk,
i just done rear wheel bearings on 110 puma i did the first side not sure about fitting hub seal as the one i took off was knackered i fitted new seal and put it level with hub as in manual when i did the other side i noticed the old seal was 4 mm downd into hub so i put new one 4mm down i asked a mechanic friend if putting seal level would cause a problem he said i doupt it as when you torque down stake nut it will push seal down against stub axle lip so far been ok does anyone know if it will cause a problem and rub

So long as it is not higher than it was it should not be an issue
If it fails you will soon notice it leaking/making a mess.

Sometimes when folk are doing a seal replacement they notice the seal land has a bit of a groove where the seal lip runs [ usual case is bit of grit getting in there ] To save renewing the stub axle or using a speedy sleave one just sits the seal in a slightly different spot.
On series vehicles the seal lad was a replacement item. Not everything improves over time.

lynall i think the one i put level should have been down 4mm thanks for your comment ive done about 50 mils since no problem yet
