Hi, does anyone know where I can buy parts to build a box to go on my old trailer chassis?
There's a few places popping up in USA but not here. I don't want it to look thrown together, I want it to look like it was professionally made,.
ie those half round corner posts and roof caps not forgetting the siding.
If will be a multi use trailer for going to the tip and other general use as well as camping to take my Maggiolina Air Top roof tent.
any ideas welcome:)

thanks John

You could try the suppliers for DIY horsebox and camper van conversions and see if they can do anything. I`d be surprised if there were`nt also suppliers specifically for trailer bits - have you tried trailer retailers like GT, I think they sell spares as well. Some of the big caravan/motorhome retailers might also be worth a look - and they usually have decent websites

Hi, Ive made one myself and am looking to sell it if you are interested.
Very much based on the trailers in South Africa. Let me know and ill email some pics over.
Best wishes

Paul

Will you be using an other trailer as a base for it, If not I doubt it would be economical to do it as trailer building regs have taken a hiding recently so its alot more £££ to build a trailer your self, How ever if you can find a good base try people like MAYPOLE, ERIND ect who make trailers and the extra bits.

I'm presuming you mean a small box? I'm doing something for my motorbikes and I have a pile of links. I can send them over tonight if you want, but Ifor Williams supply a lot of spares for their kit if you can live with their dimensions.

...trailer building regs have taken a hiding recently...

Dave, are you talking about the chassis, or the box on the chassis? I've bought a professionally built trailer chassis that has plates with limits and weights all over it. Presumably this would indicate that it's likely to be ok?

You could just take your trailer chassis to a local metal shop and tell them what you want, it's not going to be anything complex and if you get a good metal shop they'll do an excellent job.

bds trailers in sheffield should be able to help... they build trailers and catering vans so should have all the bits you need a friend of mine has sent me there for bits for his before

Yeah I meant the chassis so you should be kool. Not sure if Trailers have Unladen weights on their tally plates but if so you might need yours adjusted once built as its obviously going to be slightly more with more metal.

Ok sorta on the same idea I brought a sh box trailer for £50 6x4 angle frame only 700Kg max AUW but for what I need its perfect. Put it this way £50 was cheap but it needs total renovation to be legal. So far I have got new wheels, tyres, innertubes, mud flaps, lights no plate, painted the wood and its covered in fibreglass so may need new wood so far its cost me around £200 but I reckon another £50-£100 should be good.

Personally I'd spend more buying a better example but hey ho. The guy had another for £40 but a bit too far south for you I'm guessing and altough it looked in gwo until you get it home who knows.
