Divers door

Hi there, new to this site and hoping very much that someone can HELP me. I own a 2000 (v) reg, 5 dr Freelander. The drivers door no longer opens or unlocks with the key or fob and can not open door from the inside either. The fob locks and unlocks the rest of the car. Does anyone know what the problem could be and how to solve it. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give, cheers. James.

PS; have taken door card off and everything appears to still be together.

How deep?

The spring if it anything like a disco door.

Taking up on OD's point - do you think it is wise to go diving in a Hippoo? Rumour has it that the doors fall off in water. Maybe thats the problem - just immerse that side in water - door falls orf - problem solved.
