recently gone gradually worse, and now door will not open from outside. Have looked at all the locking mechanism all appears good, the spring loaded nylon operating rod is not pushing the metal release catch far enough and there appears to be no adjustment. Th alarm has been disconnected for a while, I thought that it could have something to do with the problem, but when I re connected it, still the same. Any idea what the solution is? For the sake of clarity, the door locks/unlocks perfectly on fob and key, the problem is OPENING the door from outside, from inside the door opens perfectly. many thanks David

Is that unable to unlock remotely or is it with the key in the drivers doo4 lock. ?
D1 central locking door actuators like the early RR item can be repaired, your issue maybe as simple as slightly undoing the four screws holding the actuator mounting plate and readjusting then tightening the screws.

Didnt realise the D1's were repairable...
You have to split the actuators case in half all the way around the joint seam, but then it won’t clip back together, so that’s where the bodge comes with duck tape and a couple of cable ties to hold the parts together.
The motor seizes, but a splash of WD or similar soon gets it spinning and so back to normal.

I understand that drilling a small hole in the case and spraying in WD can work in freeing up motor, but I wanted to know what was inside and what was wrong so I split the case.
