I have a DiscoveryV8i (1999) which first started jerking and now just will not start. The engine turns over but will not fire. I have checked a plug lead and there is spark, I am presuming it is a fuel starvation, maybe fuel pump/power supply/relay(where is that situated) supply from coil or just something else simple?

Help Desperate.

If u got sparks then the coil sounds like its ok. Jerking (hate that word) sounds like fuel seeing as the HT side seems to be ok....... Lt side is normally on or off but u wouldnt have an HT side if u didnt have a good LT side. That making sense?

Thanks, and yes jerking is not good,I have just checked fuel pump, and it is not making a sound when ignition is turned on.

What injection system is this?

I played with Lucas Hotwire on a 14CUX ECU so you could be in for a session with the multi meter. But later systems I'm not so hot with.

See if you can get hold of another ECU and try plugging it in. If that doesn't do it, you'll need to check each of the engine sensors. The symptoms you describe - engine hot or cold, under load or coasting? A '99 Disco is (I guess) on coil packs rather than a dizzy so can't say much as not familiar with it but it could be a faulty crank sensor or it might even be you have a lazy oxygen sensor. Have you had the EFI warning light come on?
