My discovery sounds like there is a wheel bearing away, as when I go above 45mph there is a rumbling coming from somewhere. I have checked all the wheels and there is no movement in any of them.
Is there another way to check the bearings or could it be something else?

Thanks for the reply.

No all the weight are still on.
I did change the long steering arm a few months ago, it still goes straight at any speed. But I dont think the tracking could cause this noise.

Also remember that partially seized calipers can grip a disc tight enough to not show play in a wheel bearing!

Weekend job:

reset all four wheel bearings, check for dryness/water ingress also.

Remove both props, check ujs for notchyness/lack of grease/rust damaged needle rollers. Check spline joints for stiffness and/or play. Regrease splines and ujs.

Pop it all back together and hope for a transformed driving experience :D

Yes jacked up each wheel in turn, no play even with the aid of a bar.

Think all calipers are ok, as just replaced the 2 front ones (and disks) and the backs were replaced last year.

Don't think I can reset the wheel bearings as I thought the TD5's had sealed hubs.(sorry should have said it is a TD5 in original post) Is this correct??

Will strip the propshafts and see what the damage is.
