Hi Guys and Girls,

Here the storey goes, im getting a 4x4 landrover to go greenlaning etc, much like what you guys do already.

Im new into all this anyway, so was looking at a Defender / 90 etc, anyway after lots of looking i saw to get anything decent that i also can use to drive to work without being mucky etc, that its a better bet getting a discovery.

So i have been looking at a 1993onwards disco, and was about to commit to buy just today.

Then i thought i must get a quote for insurance first, as that would help.

Anyway after looking a Defender i new was £300, well i got a quote for a disco and the cheapest i can get is 800quid.

Can someone advise me on where to get quotes from because thats silly amounts more but yet the disco is cheaper then the defender and its only a toy, i have cars/vans etc anyway. I was only planning to spend £1500 there abouts on a Disco but cant warrent the £800 insurance bill.

So im asking for some help on where i can get 4x4 insurance at a normal price not general public road use price.

Im not fussed on TPFT or Fully Comp, but wont go TP only.

thanks in advance

been covered a lot so have a search but usual suspects are lancaster, adrian flux, nfu and a few others i cant remember.

tried to get a quote for bro in law a few months ago and found disco was around twice the premium of a defender so could be about right depending on age, no claims etc.

Its deffinitly a good serch round with the brokers , i was paying £612 with out mods, then i called Frank Pickles and ended up paying £156, thats with mod's as well, so have a good look round.

Lancaster insurance £384 a year full comp all mods and the 90 is with frank pickles £180 a year fully comp, only have 1 year no clams at 32
