What is the general reccomendation for diff protection on the discos. Ive looked at the cheaper bolt on jobs that are the same shape as the diff and the QT ones that are angled away. Are there any other decent options ? I assumed its pretty much common sense to buy one for each diff ?

I reckons yu pays your money - yu takes ya hoice.
As I understand it, there are 3 main types - the diff pan cover, the under diff protection (salisbury type) and the replacement diff pan.

Assuming you only need protection for the diff pan itself (the thinnest, weakest bit) they all have pros and conns....
The diff pan cover tends to collect mud and crud between the diff pan and the cover, thereby rotting through the diff pan itself.
The under diff type doesnt protect all of the diif pan usually, only the centre section.
The replacement diff pan is usually of 5-8mm thick steel and therfore doesnt need protecting, however they can be a bugger to fit and are (relatively) very expensive.

personal choic, i reckon. ;)

Like The Mad Hat Man says it's personal choice. I choose not to have diff guards cos I know a couple of people that have had them, and their diffs had rusted through cos of the build up of mud behind.
